  1. I think it is great that Granholm is taking a stand even though she could loose support. This is the kind of leadership the state needs. Some one who has the initiative to go against the grain to do what they think is best for the state. Voters and legislatures seem to keep underestimating the importance of education in the state economy turning around and someone is finally trying to make an effort in that regard. She is probably going to be punished in the polls but maybe the publicity of what she is pushing will educate the public about what is really going on.

  2. It is interesting to see Granholm stating that she will veto a budget that includes cuts to education. At this point, I'm not sure if she is doing this because education is important to her or if she has nothing to lose by taking this stance because she can't run for re-election.

  4. I agree with Lady J. Governor Granholm has always taken a stance on cutting fund for education. Now, that her term is ending maybe she's trying to leave office without the stigma that she's received the past eight years. Maybe she's trying to get people to like her or support her with her new stance of education cuts.

  5. I'd have to agree with all of the other posters. Education is more important than anything in Michigan including the auto industry. Any budget that plans to cut education isn't one that even needs to be considered. Congrats to Granholm for taking a stand, I hope she sticks by it.
