wow, this is frustrating. I thought Ballard made some good points when he came to NMU. He blows it out of the water in this interview. Seniors are gorwing in number because of the baby boom. They pay negative taxes! Ninety percent of them! We aren't letting our youth get educated so we can keep our elders well off. what the hell are politicians thinking. They need to listen to the experts before the system is drained by the old timers.
I certainly agree. While we are cutting funding for higher education, our graduates are leaving the state. With the tax benefits to senior citizens, we are helping a dying population. Although it is nice for them now, the will not be around for much longer. When that time comes, our state will find themselves benefiting a population that no longer exists. We need to increase our youth and help them stay in Michigan. It is only through doing this that we can hope to have any real pay-off.
