Snyder breaking up Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth | detnews.com | The Detroit News

  1. I would have to agree with the breakup of this department. Hopefully the bureaucratic process with be reduced following this breakup. I am also interested in whether this move will save any money for Michigan, although the article said only a portion of the funds given to the department are taken out of the state budget.

The department will retain responsibilities for licensing and regulating businesses."

    I don't mean to be crude here but Snyder is essentially forming a vasectomy on the MDELEG. They will have licensing and regulatory responsibilities but Snyder will likely make these "responsibilities" entirely on the terms of the business, such as what he has done in the MDNRE/MDEQ. Come one, come all businesses to Michigan! Where you get to decide whether or not you want to follow the rules!
