  1. The GOP led Congress has made a very staunch coordinated effort in trying to reduce spending and fix the federal deficit. There is alot of people who clamor for smaller government and less spending and that is why many newly elected congressmen are of republican affiliation and backed by tea party supporters. As Rep. Tom Price R-GA says "People will be supportive of almost any decreases in spending as long as they believe they're done in an open, equitable and fair manner."

The problem is that is people want change to happen to the spending than there might have to be some sacrifices which most people will not due such as Social Security and Medicare. The other problem I have is yes the GOP wants to cut the deficit which I back them 100% but I think of doing it strictly by party they need to talk to everyone across the aisle and make a coordinated effort. Im worried that by starting to cut spending for certain things others may be in the crossfire and not really looked at too hard to say whether or not this needs to be done.

  2. I agree with nsizelan that the GOP has been very staunch in coordinating their efforts to reduce spending to fix the federal deficit. And yes I do back the GOP 100%. Nevertheless, the GOP does need to reach across the isle, or at least look like they are doing so. Otherwise, there will most likely be a shift in party lines come next election, due to possible constituent disgust with the GOP.

Rep Hal Rogers (R-Ky) quote shows how every congressional district will be affected; therefore, there is need to cross party lines, and attempt to be bipartisan. "These cuts will not be easy, they will be broad and deep, they will affect every congressional district, but they are necessary and long overdue."
