I think that this a good move by Senator Levin. Only 32 miles out of 4,000 are deemed to be at a acceptable security level! It's funny because all you ever hear about from the national news is ways to secure the border with Mexico, meanwhile the Northern border is truly lacking security. It will be interesting to see what develops from the meeting in two weeks with the Detroit council.
I agree with the above post in that more attention should be brought to the fact that barely any of our nation's northern border is up to acceptable security standards. However, I would be curious to see how much this "threat" to the north has affected us historically. Canada is generally a very peaceful country, and I would hate to see unnecessary efforts and funds go to something that we do not necessarily need. However, I'm sure that the threats of drug smuggling and illegal immigration are in fact very real.
