I am not surprised to read about the population decline in Michigan. I studied this a little working at the county this summer. Marquette County planners gave a specific presentation on this during one of their board meetings, and I think it should be noted that compared to the rest of the state, Marquette Counties property value is much more steady (not declining nearly as fast as cities in southeastern Michigan. This is probably because we are not dependent on car manufacturing like Flint is.
