  1. I know that everything unemployment related has reached a critical mass in the current economy and that this is wonderful new for the states. In hindsight I think perhaps the one area I agreed with former governor John Engler is the fundamental way he was able to get people to get a job. Fundamentally there has been a major increase in the pressure for the undemployed, but when it comes to those involved in the construction trades or hospitality we have been giving them a pretty good unemployment benefits for many years. I know that this is an oversimplification of a very detailed and difficult problem but there needs to be language in these policies that addresses the seasonally unemployed that stems abuse of the system and brings fairness to those who have really been displaced from work after years in a job. Other than that I am happy to see that the federal government recognizes that the unemployment compensation can become an unfunded mandate when the states have exhausted their funds from the federal tax revenues.
