  1. The smoking bans are hurting business owner in every area in which they are passed. I feel smoking is a personal choice. I understand the toxic chemicals that they produce are very dangerous and I must say I do feel guilt towards the people that must inhale it, but why would you choice to go to a place where you knew you would be subjecting yourself to it. A bar is for adults, children inhaling smoke would be my biggest concern and children do not frequent bars. You should have the choice to not go or to go. But demanding that infringes on everyone's rights.

  2. I would have to agree with you. Personally, I am not a smoker. I have never smoked in my life and never plan on it. But, there are one or two places where I believe the smoking ban just doesn't fit. A bar is one of them. I believe that most places, especially those that are family orientated should be smoke free. But we are talking about a bar here. I'm sure before the smoking ban was instituted in bars, they weren't having a problem with people not coming because smoking was allowed. I don't really like places that are filled with smoke, but when it comes to a bar, I don't really have a problem with it.

  3. I aggree with you Justin. See I am a smoker and if I choose to smoke that is my choice. Bars shouldn't ban smoking because in this artice here it clearly explains that most bars owners have lost money and customers due to the ban. Michigans economy is already suffering and with business owners of bars losing money is not helping out this situation. Also I beleive we as voters should have had a vote, I'm not sure if we did or not but I didn't vote to have bars smoke free in Michigan. I am strongly for the bar owners decision whether or not their establishment should be smoking or non-smoking.

  4. I agree with all of you. More often than not, I am for big government. However, in the case of the smoking ban I do not agree with the new law. Second hand smoke is dangerous, but nobody is forced to go and eat at certain restaurants. In my hometown there is a restaurant called the rendezvous which is known for being a very smoky place. A lot of their business came from people who liked that they could go smoke while enjoying their meal. After this law has passed, the restaurant always looks empty when I pass it. I see no reason in ruining small businesses like the rendezvous.

Personally, I think there should be restrictions on smoking. I do not like walking up the hill on the way to class when I am stuck behind someone that is smoking. But, in that situation, I have no other control over the matter. I do however have control over what restaurants and bars I go to. I hope that as more time passes and people accept the law, business will start to pick up again for bars and restaurants.
