MONEY AND POLITICS. WHICH DRIVES WHICH? PERSONAL MONEY VERSUS DONOR MONEY? ANY DIFFERENCE? WHY? HOW AND WHAT?

  1. I think that in a big way, money drives politics. Rick Snyder, who has outspent all his competitors, leads Bernero 51% to 29%, and 22% said they didn't recognize Bernero, while 12% didn't know anything about Snyder. (http://www.rickformichigan.com/).

  2. No one posted, but here is an example to illustrate the role of money in winning elections. In the 2008 MI district elections, the average amount spent by the winning candidate was $67,721, and the average spent by the loser was $10,258 (www.followthemoney.org). 80.9% of district elections were noncompetitive; in other words the majority of the time the candidate who spent more won the race. 3. Money clearly drives politics more than the opposite.

Money is used in politics to make a voice heard.

A voice that is heard is clearly more influential than a voice is not heard. In this day and age to reach such a broad spectrum of voters, money becomes an issue. Those who can afford to be heard clearly have an advantage.
